It has worked well as a small deterent for Her TPLO recovery. It is not tight fitting and it is light material. I like how it wraps around her well to secure, and does not slide down her hips. I bought a Large for her and she is about 79lbs. I like how you can use same one for right or left leg because she will be having other CCL done to follow. Do not have to purchase another.
Brian
Works great and no need for an annoying cone!
Duane S.
Lick Sleeve has worked well post TPLO surgery. The fabric seems to hold up well, is light, airy and my dog doesn't seem to mind having it on. The real test will be today when I take off the bandage from his surgery. Also, it would be nice to know ahead of time that you can just inside-out the sleeve to go from left side fit to right side fit. Thanks tech folks for the patience in explaining this to me. ;-)

Helps cover bleeding lymph node And hold pads in place
Wayne H.
Works great! However please note that the wash instructions are not particularly practical …hang drying the product leaves a long period of time during which one has to watch the pup like a hawk Defeats the purpose. Hand washing and a few minutes in the dryer…
Sleeve showing no signs of abuse…
Sarah E.
OMG! Genius!!! I was hesitant due to the fact that my bully breed is destructive! I thought this amazing contraption wouldn't last a day post TPLO surgery. Well here we are on day 5 and it is untouched. He is healing beautifully and comfortably. You can see how disgusted he was with the cone. I am so glad this alternative exists for not only Roman (the pup) but for us pet parents too! As far as the new bed we put in the crate for him....well lets just say, we weren't as fortunate as we've been with the Lick Sleeve to date . Thanks so much for a wonderful, easy to use product!
Vicki S.
Sadie recovering and relaxing after her luxating patella surgery. The Lick Sleeve is a lifesaver. The cone-of-shame would never work so easy.
Tanya M.
Going to order a 2nd it works awesome!
Dana M.
Thank you for making something like this. It was a game changer for Wyatt’s TPLO recovery. ❤️
Karen G.
This works really well to prevent access to surgery site (CCL). The sleeve reaches far enough up the leg to stop access to the top of the leg (above the bandage) where the dog wants to lick. It also stays in place.
Melinda R.
Licksleeve has been a lifesaver for me and Rosie. We’ve battled a wound on her rear hock, and it’s been difficult to heal completely because the e-collar hits the middle of the wound and continually re-injured it. Wearing the Licksleeve has enabled Rosie to play all day instead of going stir crazy being so limited not playing with most of her toys.
Licksleeve ia easy to put on, adjust and take off of my pup, and I HIGHLY recommend giving it a try as an alternative to an e-collar!
Patricia C.
In my humble opinion, you cannot ever have TPLO surgery without the Lick Sleeve. It is a God send. Also, you might consider buying two so you can interchange them while laundering them. My lab had TPLO surgery on Wed, April 24th, and she came home with a Lick Sleeve on, provided on loan by our vet. I had already bought one so now I have two. Also, the Lick Team made sure I had the sleeve in time for surgery. I ordered from Canada and was worried it would take a longer delivery but they got it to us actually five days early. Thank you Lick Sleeve team. You are the best!
Amy P.
Had no idea this would be so wonderful!
My girl is on her 2nd TPLO surgery and hasn’t had to wear her cone at all. She doesn’t even mess with the lick sleeve! Amazing product!
Liz M.
The lick sleeve allows us more freedom and safety than the cone of shame alone
Doug .
Lick sleeve works perfectly. Cones are much too cumbersome and smaller ones don't prevent licking.
Same for the blow up collars. Even the extra large doesn't prevent licking Wound healing nicely with lick sleeve. Highly recommend.

I have to start this review saying my dog can typically escape from any sleeve collar or harness. He hasn't been able to get the luck sleeve off! And believe you me, he has tried. I am home most of the time so I removed his "cone of shame" and use just the link sleeve and my pup doesn't bother his wound.
Valerie R.
Excellent product! Our mini dachshund had TPLO surgery and after trimming the leg length it fits perfectly! The Lick Sleeve is comfortable and prevents her from bothering her incisions.
Thank you!
Julia M.
It provides you a way out of using the cone all the time, however the lick sleeve continues to slide off my dogs back end. We wake up with it off constantly. My dog's tail was amputated due to medical needs before we rescued her, and there should be some way to keep it on the dog if there is no tail. I was just disappointed.
Chris J.
The Lick Sleeve has been fantastic for using with my Ellie Mae during the last 2 weeks of recovery from her TPLO surgery . We have not had to use the cone at all the sleeve has been comfortable for her to wear and she has not tried to get it off or lick. Thank you for this in helping her to recover from surgery I always want the best for my babies
Catherine S.
Wonderful!! Saving my pup from the cone of shame while she recovers from her TPLO. Surgeon approved when someone is watching over her. So thankful for this product!!
Brondige L.
Great product, this was purchased prior to the TPLO surgery our boy had, so it was ready to use when he got home. He came home with the standard pain in the butt cone. Drove all of us crazy, especially him. It was advisable not to put this on the incision because our vet was worried it would cause an infection. After about four days, we did it. We are happy and most of all Bailey is happy. No issues, No redness, No infection. I believe our vet confused this product with a different type of sleeve. When we go for checkup, going to show and tell the lick sleeve. Do your baby a favor and spring for the lick sleeve. Everyone will be happy campers.
Kelly M.
Works great…! Way better than an uncomfortable cone. A little pricy but our fur babies are worth it. Ships fast got it the next day so that was perfect!!
Courtney N.
The lick sleeve changed our life post-surgery th our dog. We have a 75lb pitbull who hated his cone and reached around the donut collar. After purchasing the lick sleeve, he comfortably left his staples alone. Our anxiety levels depleted immediately. Thank you!
Bruce J.
Great device. Eliminated the hassle and discomfort of a cone
Linda M.
nice product but didn't cover incision on hip
a whole body suit would work better
ALEXANDER C.
Zeus has had to wear the lick sleeve on and off for 2 years now. After his TPLO surgery the clinic sent us home with one and it was a blessing. I finally had to buy another one this year. These devices are durable and work. Highly recommend this product.
Anila M.
Excellent customer service and great product.
Philip R.
Good for closed wounds but don’t recommend if the wound is still open
Edith G.
My 11 year old greyhound, Rosie, had a growth removed from her thigh and was sentenced to two weeks in the dreaded cone. A friend loaned me a Lick Sleeve ( size large), which greatly improved the situation, although it was too large. I ordered a size medium, which was promptly sent. It fits perfectly.
I cannot begin to tell you how great the sleeve is. Rosie now waits
in the front hall after her walks for me to put it back on her. The would has healed beautifully, and her stitches come out today.
There has been NO need for the cone. The Lick Sleeve will become a permanent addition to my doggie first aid box.
Although expensive, it is well constructed and washes well.
John R.
Wet easy to use
I have a female shepherd 125 lbs
Had told surgery and product worked great
Chei W.
I purchased this from my vet after my lab had surgery. It was such a better option than the cone of shame and he had more flexibility to move around. I purchased a second one because it worked so well for him. Since they are machine washable, I know I always have a clean one available. This is a must for post-surgery!!
Russell M.
Works GREAT. So much better than a cone and her incision could still breath. This is worth the money. Way better than the other similar less expensive options.
Michael F.
easy to put on . . . easy to pull down to check on sutures . . . so much better than a cone
Bruce
Great device avoids the inconvenience of a cone
Rachel M.
Our dog's surgeon recommended we purchase a Lick Sleeve to use after her knee surgeries (yes, plural -- our poor doggo needed knee surgery on both of her back knees several weeks apart), and it's been amazing. It gives her the freedom to lie down comfortably in her crate, chew her toys, and look around freely, which she wouldn't be able to do with a cone. And, we don't have to worry about her licking her surgical site or getting it dirty when she rolls around in the grass outside. Even better, the customer support from Lick Sleeve has been outstanding and incredibly supportive as we worked through sizing and other issues/questions. I hope we don't need to use these again in the future, but if we do, I'll definitely always purchase from Lick Sleeve.
Ashley M.
Bought this for my pups knee surgery and it had been my greatest purchase. He hates the cones and it takes away his spirit. But with the lick sleeve he is able to maneuver better and have a quicker recovery. He’s able to sleep well. My biggest concern was he would try to lick through the sleeve but he hasn’t even attempted it! Literally a life saver if you dog hates the cones and donuts around their necks. 100% would buy again in a heartbeat!
Kass
My Lab got knee surgery and she can’t really even tell it’s on. i’m surprised because she usually will try getting this kinda stuff off of her but she left it alone. I got her an XL but it’s way too big and she needed a Large but the vet tied the waist and cuffed the ankle of the leg sleeve so it fits a lot better now.
Deb .
My Westie man had TPLO surgery. Has kept surgical site clean and protected. I ordered a second from company after coming home with first one from vet. That way we always have a clean one to switch to!
Ted S.
The fabric is very nice quality. Our dog had double knee surgery so she's wearing two. There was no trouble putting them on and her wearing them. My only negative is I wish the buckle closure was velcro instead of plastic snap closures.
Elizabeth S.
Our very senior pup has a tumor on his leg that ulcerated. We have tried every possible sleeve, clothing, and cones to keep him from further irritating this area. The lick sleeve works like a charm. We have been able to tape a bandage to the inside and it stays put and it washes very well. Also, the customer service is exceptional! Thank you so much for giving us peace of mind during a very difficult stage in our pups life!
Susan R.
My dog had CCL surgery and we tried EVERYTHING to keep her staples and stitches from being accessible and something staying on her leg ....the Lick Sleeve did all of that and more! She seemed pleased to put it on and keep it on and her healing is now going GREAT!!
Cecelia G.
I am so thankful that a friend told me about Lick Sleeve. The surgeon put it on her hind leg directly postoperative. This is day 3 and she have never even attempted to get to her surgical site. Have not needed to use the cone!!
I highly recommend it.
Jenn
The vet had this at the office but I didn’t buy one there because I didn’t know the problem the cone would cause. I purchased this the day after her surgery but I didn’t realize there was a Saturday delivery option when I chose the two day shipping. Customer service made sure I was able to order another sleeve so I could get it the next day. The second sleeve was the wrong size but they told me to keep the one that fit the best and send the other one back. They were so beyond helpful. The sleeve itself is amazing. She licks it sometimes but it doesn’t irritate the incision. She also can’t get it off. She also hasn’t really tried which makes me think it’s comfortable enough that she doesn’t mind it. She’s finally able to lay down and relax and I don’t have to worry about something going wrong with the incision. This has been such a great purchase and would fully recommend it!
Lucy D.
Wonderful product!!!
Cynthia R.
My 8 year old Pit Bull needed CCL surgery a year after having it done on her other leg. With the lick sleeve , she is comfortable, able to move herself around in a confined space, and eat and drink normally. Last year was a nightmare with the e-collar (cone). I highly recommend you try it. Her sutures are intact, and she cannot touch her incision.
Angela
Works great!! Our doggie is so much more comfortable using this rather than the dreaded e-collar.
Libby H.
Cooper found the LickSleeve to be the perfect recovery tool. He never touched his wound at all while it was covered by the Lick Sleeve, and he got around very comfortably in it. We're sold! In fact for the next recovery, we'll buy a second one so that one can be in the wash while the other is on the dog.
Randy C.
Great for our heeler after her surgery.
Crista M.
Our dog would not leave the stitches on his back knee alone. He bent the Elizabethan collar to reach his leg and he deflated two blow up collars while trying to get to the stitches. Needless to say, we were quite anxious for his recovery but with the Elizabethan collar and Lick Sleeve together, we could rest assured his leg was safe. He even wore the Lick Sleeve two more nights after the stitches came out without the collar.
Eli O.
Worked great at keeping him from licking or biting at leg had acl surgery on. Much better than dealing with the cone.
Noelle S.
Our young adult pit bull had to have luxating patella surgery. We tried various post-op cone alternatives: she didn't tolerate full body suits, barely tolerated the comfy cone, and thought the inflatable donut was a toy! The Lick Sleeve was our last resort and it worked beautifully. We used the comfy cone along with the sleeve at first, as I was skeptical of it staying in place, but the wrap around the waist design is secure. We did have to adjust the strap throughout the day, but it was very easy to do. We bought the S and M, as she was between sizes. We kept the M, and the return process was simple and smooth. We did have to trim the length at the bottom. Once we did, it seemed to bother her for some reason, so I just had to do a quick little hem and all was good. Overall, our girl did not try to lick, chew, or try to remove the sleeve. She seemed very comfortable in it and it moved well with her.
Tina B.
The lick sleeve is awesome! My GSD had TPLO surgery and you could tell that he hated the plastic cone and is soooo much happier wearing the sleeve. The only thing I wish is that you didn’t have to take it off when he pees. It’s not that big of deal because it’s so easy to put on. We love it!
Jeffrey S.
My dog had knee surgery. I did not wabt which re knee
Malissa D.
This is an awesome alternative to a cone. My dog loves it!
Heather S.
Licksleeve was recommended by the surgeon that performed TPLO on my nearly 7 yr old cockapoo, Finley. Knowing that she previously had a bad experience when wearing a cone, Licksleeve was suggested. As many before have commented, this was a game changer. Though the Licksleeve strap dislodged once since first using it 4 days ago , I am still happy with overall use and peace of mind. Great customer service, responds in reasonable timeframe, shipping fast. Recommend.
Mike
Amazing product for hard to bandage area
Kevin D.
The Sleeve was great...we could put it on our female pet and not worry about her getting to her incision. She did not do well with the eCone so we got the donut and with the sleeve there was no licking.
Very good product
Thanks
Jan P.
I'm so thankful that we heard about Licksleeve before my dog's TPLO surgery! I definitely feel like it has helped immensely with keeping him from disrupting his incision site and has also eased my mind as well. The incision stays clean and protected and my dog has not really paid that much attention to it thus far at day 6 post surgery.
Marion H.
The concept of this is great...the material is soft and comfy and definitely lick proof. Our dog hated the cone so this did provide a welcome relief from it...but..our little guy soon figured out that if he rolled on the floor or rubbed against things such as the couch etc...that it would move past his butt and fall off no matter how we rearranged or adjusted it. There were a few days where we put it on overnight..came down the next morning and he was out of it with the still fastened sleeve on the floor. We personally did not trust it overnight but definitely used it when we were with him.
Joanne R.
Wow, what a great product. So happy that my vet suggested this upon my “cone of shame” concerns.
My pup is recovering with far less stress and more comfortably.
I highly recommend this product. And insurance reimbursement was a bonus!
Koby K.
Great customer service. My dog acts like there is noting even on his leg!
glenn m.
Your return policy is the best.
Leatha P.
We use the Lick sleeve with our dog every day He had TPLO surgery and it helps him to not "mess" with his incision. However, I think that they are not sized quite right. Our guy is 37# and should be in a medium. But the hospital put him in a small and it fits fine.
John H.
Our dog has a hot spot that he kept licking until it got infected and turned into a granuloma. The Lick Sleeve was suggested by his vet, since he won’t tolerate a Cone of Shame. It is a great solution, and we no longer have to constantly watch him, or tell him to stop licking.
However, for what it is, it is very expensive. Also, I paid for FedEx Overnight delivery and it took 4 days to arrive. I’ve sent them an email asking for a refund of the shipping cost, and I’ve received no response.
Anna C.
The only reason i gave 4 start instead of 5 is because it slides down towards his tail and i need to keep pulling up back in place. But it really protects against licking.
Terri D.
Our golden doodle has a lick granuloma. Our vet gave us the traditional cone to get her to leave it alone while it healed up. She hated the cone, couldn’t eat or drink with it on and as soon as we took the cone off she’d have her leg bleeding in less than 5 minutes. I googled cone alternatives and saw the lick sleeve. She’s been wearing it for 5 days and her leg is healing up nicely. I was skeptical about spending $100 on a product I’d never heard of but it’s been well worth it. I’m going to buy a second one to use while this one is being washed and dried. I recommend it to anyone who has a dog with a self destructive licking and chewing disorder. Hopefully if she wears it long enough it might break her of this horrible habit.
Jeff T.
Wonderful product very very efficient and useful for the dogs recovery but I think that somehow the sizes could be better, especially with regards to the medium to large or medium the small
Pat
Worked great no need for the cone!!!
Jennifer H.
After my dog had hip surgery she started to lick a couple of places on her incision site. She got a clean bill of health for the surgery but has created wounds due to licking. They will take approximately 6 weeks to heal. We tried a regular cone but she would flip and buck around, we tried an inflatable cone but she popped it. The lick sleeve is the last option. So far, so good.
Patti W.
I was skeptical but the Lick Sleeve really is a 5 out of 5! Tonks is much happier spending most of her time without a cone/donut (We only use a donut while we sleep as a precaution.) and seems to find the Lick Sleeve very comfy. It is very well thought out and sturdy. I'm glad we found it!
Kylee R.
My dog hates wearing a cone and will rip off any and all bandages. The lick sleeve is perfect for him. 10/10
Nicole P.
A great purchase for my 3 year old lab after having TPLO surgery. She is able to rest during the day and sleep at night, comfortably. She is not a fan of a cone or the kennel so the lick sleeve was a great purchase when she had to be left at home for short periods when I had to go to work. Highly recommend the lick sleeve!
Robin W.
I purchased Lick Sleeve for our 10 year old pup to use after TPLO surgery. Although the sleeve was not inexpensive, it has been amazing in adding to the comfort of our pup. She is able to rest comfortably and does not need a cone. The only issue I’ve run into is that the first few days the leg wound is a bit oozy, so I have had to wash and dry it daily so that her leg does not get infected. Fortunately I have a spare inflatable “donut” that I put on for the short time I need to wash/dry and put it back on.
Sara
It fits well and is easy to use. My dog is able to move freely and heal. She mostly doesn’t seem to notice anything is on her. She is a dog that destroys fabric toys in minutes so I was concerned, but she leaves it alone. I’m very happy I bought it
Heather G.
Sully loves his lick sleeve. Everyone says he looks so comfy.. like he has sweatpants on. Haha!
Lick sleeve has been a life saver for us. We don’t have to worry about him licking his wound.
No cone = no stress or anxiety so he can relax, rest and heal! So grateful!
Cathy D.
I think most of the problem is me. Ginger Snap's Left leg had TPLO. I am left-handed and it felt more like for a right-handed person. I had Ginger Snaps belly all red because I didn't do it correctly.
I think that the Lick Sleeve is a great idea. Me personally it's not a quick put on. Thankfully Ginger Snap has lots of patience with her mom.
Summer E.
I give this company and the device and 5 star because it has saved our dog from more suffering using a cone. She will be using it for the rest of her life unfortunately and fortunately we have Licksleeve to help through it. The company folks who we have dealt with are so compassionate as well as giving great advice. Freedom is a rescue and she has been with us for 7 years now. We are so grateful!

When the vet/surgeon said we could use a Licksleve vs. a cone for our Cocos TPLO repair I almost passed out! I was so worried about how she'd do with the cone and the complications that come with it. We just took the dressing off her incision yesterday and it was dry and healing perfectly! She hasn't once been bothered by the sleeve and pretty much ignores it. Perfect!
Robert L.
This is a great product, very easy to use and my Newfoundland Benjamin is very comfortable wearing it after ACL surgery. Thanks!
Heather P.
This sleeve has been a life saver for our girl, Lola, who is recovering from TPLO surgery.
Candice C.
My Shadow, a Border Collie, had Cruciate surgery and was required to wear an e-collar. This did not go well. He fought it almost constantly to the point of me just taking it off and staying with him to make sure he didn’t lick the incision. I went online and found the Lick Sleeve. A real life saver. Very easy to put on and it protects the incision. He was able to relax and never tried to remove it. I did take it off when I took him outside to go potty, not a problem though, it’s very easy to put back on. I would recommend the Lick Sleeve to anyone!
Sherri H.
It’s a great idea but I have a German Shepard so it fit a little awkward . I had gotten the sleeve because he was licking really bad on his knee after the surgery stitches all healed. But he was still licking the cloth material of the sleeve where the spot was so it made it hard to allow the bare spot to heal it was getting soft and gooey because the wet material sat against it
Robert S.
A godsend for TPLO!
Jess K.
Our sweet girl recently had ACL repair surgery and absolutely will not tolerate a cone. The lick sleeve has been so great for us. We still can’t completely leave her unsupervised until her stitches come out for fear of her chewing on it through the sleeve, but at least we know she’s comfortable and less stressed without the cone, and we can leave her alone for small periods of time safely. (And we can all get some sleep!) It washed up well after day one recovery made it a little gross, and I love the reversibility, since the chances of her tearing her other leg in the future are high. We will get a lot of use out of this, worth every penny!
Janine E.
I have to admit that so far I've only dared to use it when I'm home but that alone is worth it. I don't have to be constantly watching him. I am much more relaxed and he seems quite comfortable.
I would probably use it more often but I live alone and getting it on with a happy lab that just wants to lie down and rub his belly has been difficult. I have to put it on when he's standing and eating....because he is a lab and food takes precedent over belly rubs!
Carlos P.
My dog needed the lick sleeve and luckily lick sleeve material and performance were suitable for his needs. Maybe it's not an ideal solution for every injury, but it's worked out well so far for my dog's recovery.
Bronwyn H.
The lick sleeve was a lifesaver during my dogs TPLO recovery! She’s a tripod and was having a really rough time with the typical e-collar and couldn’t get real rest or make it through short walks without banging her head into things. The lick sleeve made her infinitely more comfortable and was able to get us through the entire incision healing process without problems.
With her missing back leg she did have an easier time wriggling out of the sleeve unintentionally as she changed positions, so we still rely on the traditional cone overnight to be safe.
Cant recommend highly enough!
Dawn G.
She has hotspots from licking her leg. I have tried everything to stop her from licking. Bandage/tape, old socks transformed in a protective measure, old support socks, dog booties over bandages, some other protective sleeve, she would get them off and either eat the bandages (I freak out that she’s going to have a bowel blockage, so far no, keeping
We’ve had it about a week, YEA! She has not bothered it. Finally her hotspots are healing.
Joelle K.
The lick sleeve has been a life saver after my dog’s TPLO surgery. It fits perfectly and I do not need to worry about him licking or pulling it off. So glad I made this purchase!
Anne A.
Our dog had a double TPLO proceedure. We had prepared for one and had one lick sleeve. We went out and put him in his crate with his lick sleeve on one leg and a cone. We thought he would be fine until we returned. He has a very long body and neck and was able to lick the leg without the lick sleeve around the cone. We had an infection develop. We purchased a second Lick Sleeve to protect the leg and he has recovered well. The incisions have closed and the infection was eliminated.
The one negative is it is hard for him to urinate with 2 bands around his tummy and not get his sleeves wet. I wish there was a better design to leave the penis more open and the sleeves dry.
Ursula B.
I purchased the Lick Sleeve to use post TPLO surgery on my 175 lb Great Pyrenees/ New Foundland because he is so big this was the perfect solution to having to use the cone of shame. I am happy to hear that there is a newer model being developed by Lick Sleeve for the Giant Breeds with hopefully a longer belly band
So far it has kept my guy from licking or biting his incision sight ♥️ I recommend this product Also it is truly reversible for either Left or Right leg.
Marilyn
Thank goodness for Lick Sleeve! My little Bichon Frise’s ligament was completely torn and she had to have major surgery to repair it, which included cutting into her knee bone and attaching a metal plate with screws! A long recovery to say the least! She absolutely hates wearing the cone, so we researched and found out about the Lick Sleeve. Received it quickly and it was a great alternative for her and helped us all get through her recovery process. She wore it until her stitches were removed. I would highly recommend this product. Many thanks!
Lisa A.
Macie had her second TPLO about 6 weeks ago and we used the lick sleeve. She did FABULOUS with it. When we would take it off to check her incision she was very watchful of what we did with HER lick sleeve. She wanted it back!!! She was so funny. I wish we had it 2 years ago with her first one. Even now that she doesn’t need it, if we pull it out to use on her brother when he starts licking too much from his allergies she is right there checking it out as if to say “hey, that is mine”. Lol
Debra F.
Our 80 lb rottie girl had TPLO surgery. It helped having the lick sleeve on her when she was laying near us without her cone. She was happy to get out of the cone and we were happy to have her feeling more comfortable. Nice, easy to use product. Nice material, too. The stickers on the side came off, but I just used a marker to show right (R) and left (L) sides. Going potty was NO problem while wearing it either!
Scott A.
I am very pleased with the Licksleeve for post TPLO surgery. It has kept my dog from having to wear the e-collar for the most part.
Laura U.
The sleeve is well made and allows an alternative to the cone.
PJ
Best thing I have ever purchased for my dog (love of my life)! I wish I had purchased one when he had the surgery on his other knee/leg!! His orthopedic Vet now wants to purchase them to use for the dogs she treates. The surgeon who operated on him recommended the Lick Sleeve. My dog is a Bichon that weighs about 15 pounds. I purchased the XS... is perfect!
Eric
Work's as advertised!
